snapdragon 800 series processor in mid range phones

Ever thought why the companies use 700 series processors in a mid range phone but not the old 800 series processors? For instance, the OnePlus Nord, has the 765G processors when they could have used a 800 series processor. Let’s discuss!

Before we begin, for better understanding this, let’s compare: 845 Vs 765G.

Comparison: 845 Vs 765G

Shedding some light on the Geek bench single core score of 845 processor, it is much better in comparison with the 765G. In respective with the Geek bench multi core score, which is 9047 for 845 and for 7902 for 765G, the 845 is a clear winner.

Higher multi core score provides 845 with the ability to load the applications faster, your phone becomes snappier and the ability to multitask. So, switch between apps, read this article, text your friends, tweet about how awesome this blog post was or click a pic of the cute puppy with utmost ease.

From a gaming perspective, 845 has Adreno 630 and 765G has 620, the higher the score, the better the graphics. Moreover, with the 3D mark score of 845 is 150 and 765G is 95, 845 lets you play your favorite games in ultra settings!

Coming to our next point, the AnTuTu score. 845 has 350000 AnTuTu score and for 765G it is 320000, a huge difference!

*Benchmark (computing) Website. antutu.com. AnTuTu is a Chinese software benchmarking tool commonly used to benchmark phones and other devices. In calculating this score, the GPU and the CPU of the processors are considered.

845 is again leading the way with its 4K display support, whereas the 765G supports the Quad HD display.

Addressing the initial question, better graphics and a better processor doesn’t guarantee good end user experience. Better battery life, more ram for more applications and better operating system also plays an important role in end user experience.

Even though the 800 series processors definitely win in almost every front, yet 765G is a 5G WIFI enabled chipset. Moreover, 765G supports the latest WIFI 6 along with the ufs 3.1 support directly translates to faster memory, which the 800 series processors don’t have the same support.

765G is also based on 7nm architecture, which provides more space for RAM and more battery and also better battery performance. Whereas the 800 series processors have 10nm and sometimes even 14nm chips. You can clearly see who is the winner here!
